Headquartered in Pella, Iowa, the company is committed to new product technologies, lean manufacturing, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. Pella has long been conscious of energy and environmental concerns, and its executive team realized that they could achieve even greater energy efficiency gains if they proactively adopted a more holistic approach to energy management.

Pella selected C3 to help automate its energy efficiency efforts across its several manufacturing facilities in North America. Pella is using C3 to model, analyze, and forecast energy consumption throughout its manufacturing operations, providing the company with actionable insight about its use of energy across business processes, plants, and assets. Pella is also using C3 to identify statistically meaningful opportunities to reduce energy consumption and its resulting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Using C3, Pella identified opportunities to reduce peak demand with minimal changes to current manufacturing processes and production scheduling requirements. This technique is known as "peak demand shaving," and has resulted in significant energy savings.

C3 has not only helped Pella to identify one-time changes that can reap significant benefits, it has also been helping Pella to establish a virtuous cycle of energy and emissions management, so that efficiency achievements can be maintained and expanded. Less than a year after deploying the C3 solution, Pella has identified or implemented many improvements toward reaching its energy savings goals.
